X-Files: I Want to Believe

X-Files: I Want To Believe - I went to this movie with eager anticipation to experience the personal and professional relationship of Mulder and Scully, the proof of aliens, the uncovering of a web of government conspiracies and answers to questions from over 150 episodes. What did I get? I had to sit through two hours of "Without a Trace" and "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." Basically, I got nothing.

A FBI agent is missing in snowy West Virginia. Former FBI agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and former agent, now doctor, Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are recruited by two current agents (Amanda Peet and rapper Xzhibit) for their past experiences with the paranormal. The four characters search for the missing agent for the next 120 minutes, while Scully continues to treat a terminally ill boy in a Baltimore hospital. These two things are all there is to the movie. No aliens, no Karl Rove cover-ups, no Smoking Man, no Alex "Rat Boy" Krychek, no D.C. politics, no answers about Mulder's sister's abduction by aliens, no Syndicate, no Lone Gunmen and zero development of Mulder and Scully's affair/marriage. The plot and script of this movie were as boring as the television show was complex, intricate and surprising. Four good actors were given little to do and even less interesting to say.
